Why Update Firmware?

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Check for the Latest Firmware:

   • Navigate to System > Firmware in the FortiGate GUI.

   • Check the current firmware version installed on your device.

   • Click Check for Updates to see if a newer version is available.

2. Download the Latest Firmware:

   • If an update is available, download the firmware from the official Fortinet support site or directly through the FortiGate interface.

3. Prepare for the Update:

   • Backup Your Configuration: Before updating, it's essential to back up your current configuration. Go to System > Maintenance > Backup & Restore, and save the current settings to your local device.

   • Read Release Notes: Review the release notes for the new firmware version to understand the changes and new features.

4. Install the Firmware:

   • Go back to System > Firmware.

   • Click Upload Firmware, and select the downloaded firmware file.

   • Confirm the update and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

5. Reboot and Verify:

   • After the firmware is installed, the FortiGate device will reboot.

   • Once it restarts, verify the firmware version to ensure the update was successful.
